Saturday Night Magazine recently had the chance to hang with the ultra-cool cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. We headed to the Guys & Dolls Lounge in West Hollywood to chat with cast members Charlie Day, Danny DeVito, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Glenn Howerton about the gang’s new DVD release, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas.

Sunny cast members (L-R) Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson, Charlie Day, Danny DeVito and Rob McElhenney.
The actors were smugly reluctant to reveal details about the 43-minute episode, but they were quick to mention that we’d catch an unforgettable glimpse of Danny DeVito in his birthday suit. Other than that and a few allusions to hilarious hospital scenes and playmation musical acts, their lips were sealed. “You can go in and expect whatever the hell you want to expect,” Glenn Howerton, who plays Dennis Reynolds, said. “But you are going to get something bigger and better than what you’re expecting…”

We also got to discover a more personal side of the actors, as they opened up about their plans for the holidays, their favorite winter drinks and their fondest Christmas childhood memories. Danny DeVito, who plays Frank Reynolds, mentioned he’d be spending the holidays with his kids while Mary Elizabeth Ellis, who pops up as the Paddy's Pub waitress, will head down home to Louisiana for crawfish boils. Howerton admitted that unlike his onscreen character Dennis, his winter drink of choice would be non-alcoholic: a mocha coffee. And Charlie Day, who is Charlie Kelly on the show, jokingly griped that he never got anything great for Christmas, only sticks of gum and pencils.
So as you tweak and perfect your own Christmas list, be sure to include A Very Sunny Christmas DVD on it. Trust us. You’ll never look at Christmas the same way again.
