Congratulations on your debut album! I’m sure that your lives have changed a lot in the last three years, two of which you were working on your album. Thanks. Yeah, we’re just trying to stay as focused as possible.
You know, it seems like everything’s going great right now, but what were you doing 3 years ago? Uh, I think my phone’s cuttin’ out. Hello?
Yeah, I’m here. I don’t know if this is my phone or your phone?
I’m on a cell, too. Hello? I can hear bits and pieces.
Damn technology. Can you hear me now? Yeah, I can hear you.
So back to the question at hand, what were you up to three years ago? Three years ago… I guess I was delivering pizzas. Pizzas and newspapers. I was a delivery boy.
What pizza company? Just a local, independent place—the Old New Jersey Pizza Company.
That’s pretty sweet, I guess. What newspaper? The Daily Sun.
Nice. At least you got a better gig now. (Laughs) Yeah. It’s definitely nicer.
Although you probably don’t get all the free pizza now. No, I don’t get free food anymore. That was one of the benefits—I never had to pay for food.
Pizza doesn’t necessarily keep you in the best shape, though. (Laughs) Well, if you’re delivering the pizzas—running and walking—it’s not so bad. But yeah, if you’re just driving around, that’s not so good.
So anyways, Mercy Fall is a really interesting name. What’s the significance? How did it come about? They were a couple words that we thought sounded cool. We definitely wanted two words. I loved the word “mercy” and another guy in the band loved “fall.” It’s a yin and yang for us, darkness and light. All of our music taps into that, and I think the name reflects that. The name fits the band really well.
