300
7/31 – Warner Home Video

One of the biggest hits of the spring movie season, 300 made up for its simple plotline with a stylized dose of blood, sex and killer battle scenes. So that’s gratuitous violence, hot guys with airbrushed abs, eye-popping ‘graphic novel lavishly splashed onto big screen’ effects, an ass-kicking heroine Queen and an onslaught of quotable lines? If this isn’t the best date movie ever, we don’t know what is. Now you can re-run the Spartan fun on DVD with a legion of special features.

GIVEAWAY!
If you’d like to win one of 5 copies of 300 on DVD, just email the subject line ‘300 GIVEAWAY’ to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it and prepare for glory!

Factory Girl
7/17 – Genius Products

"You're the Boss, apple sauce" says Guy "Priscilla" Pearce when he first meets Brit skank Sienna Miller in this loveable chronicle of Edie Sedgwick's rise and fall. For anyone who doesn't know, Sedgwick was the "It" girl of 1960's New York and Andy Warhol’s long time bimbette. Dark in places and deeply disturbing in others, it's a wild ride into the 60s underground art scene and a visual feast of actual footage including archival tapes, still photos and scenes from Warhol's movies. Throw in solid performances from Hayden "Anakin" Christensen, Jimmy Fallon and Mena Suvari and this is well worth a look. Extras include 15 minutes of unseen footage on the unrated director's cut of the DVD and audition tapes that are not to be missed!

The Number 23
7/24 – New Line Entertainment

Uh-oh! Jim Carrey doing straight acting…again?! Actually he's not bad as Walter Sparrow, a man who falls into a world where the number 23 creates a ton of trouble and paranoia for him. But will he follow the same path as depicted in the dark book? There are some fantastic special features that really enhance the whole experience, including a very detailed behind-the-scenes featurette. Our favorite? The numerology featurette makes for an interesting watch.

Zodiac
7/31 – Paramount Home Entertainment

Jakey Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo star in this gritty crime thriller from iconic director, David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club). As a serial killer terrifies the San Francisco Bay Area and taunts police with his ciphers and letters, the search for the murderer becomes an obsession for four investigators following the endless trail of clues. It’s dark, moody, suspenseful goodness and we know you want it on your DVD shelf.

GIVEAWAY!
We’ve got 5 copies to give away so if you’d like to win Zodiac on DVD, simply email the subject line ‘ZODIAC GIVEAWAY’ to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . We’ll stick a pin on our inbox and notify the winners by email.

The Darwin Awards
7/31 - MGM

With more cameos than you can shake twelve sticks at, Joseph Fiennes and Winona Ryder bring to life the cult website that spawned a thousand forwards. The Darwin Awards honor "the betterment of the human race by saluting those whose ill-advised folly removes them from the gene pool". The hilarious pairing will have you in stitches as the forensic detective (Fiennes) and insurance claims investigator (Ryder) travel to investigate a potential Darwin Award winner. Other notable performances come from Juliette Lewis, David Arquette and Julianna Margulies but be warned, Wilder Valderrama also 'stars'.

Premonition
7/17 – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

Not a bad attempt by Sandy Bullock at a suspense thriller based around a premonition that sparks a race to save hubby (Julian "Nip/Tuck" McMahon). Twists and turns follow but the PLETHORA of bonus features really sell this DVD – there are the usual suspects (deleted scenes etc.) but the great alternate ending, blooper reel and ‘making of’ featurette are definitely worth watching. The movie timeline of events (put in the 'correct' order) and the crazies’ documentary about real-life premonitions are especially good.
