{rjp Speed_Racer1.jpg|left}Don’t have time to wade through the geeky depths of Ain’t It Cool or translate the industry jargon in Variety? Then you’ve come to the right place as we bring you the hottest Hollywood casting rumors from Batman’s new girlfriend to the crew of Star Trek XI, Indy’s son and one super cool Speed Racer.
A lot of people weren’t ecstatic about the casting of Katie Holmes in Batman Begins and that was before she went Cruise-azy. So it’s no wonder she’s being replaced for the follow-up, The Dark Knight. After rumors of Rachel McAdams and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) stepping into the role of Bat-love interest Rachel Dawes, it has finally been announced that Maggie Gyllenhaal has landed the job.
Since sixty-four-year-old Harrison Ford will probably need some help finding the whip, let alone cracking it in Indiana Jones 4, it’s not surprising that the roles of Indy’s kids are currently up for grabs. But an initial rumor of Natalie Portman playing Indy’s daughter was shot down pretty quickly and even though Spielberg’s current wonderboy, Shia LeBeouf (Transformers), seems like a front-runner for Indy Jr., right now it seems they’re digging in the wrong place.
It’s trippy enough that Lost creator and MI:3 director JJ Abrams will write and direct Star Trek XI, but the current casting rumors are all out mind-warping. On the bridge right now are Matt Damon as Captain Kirk, Gary Sinise (CSI:NY) as Bones McCoy and Adrien Brody (King Kong) as Spock. Beam us up before we make more bad Trekkie jokes.
And finally, you might have heard that the Wachowski brothers (The Matrix, V for Vendetta) are making a live-action version of vintage anime series, Speed Racer. Right now, the only rumor around is Vince Vaughn as Speed’s broodly older bro, Racer X. But what about Speed himself? Keanu Reeves? Put on your fantasy casting caps!
