You may recognize the sexy techy Morgan Webb from her hosting position on G4’s X-Play, a video game show. She is an icon in the video game world, a “video game goddess,” as her other publications have proclaimed. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in rhetoric, Morgan used her natural knack for technology and passion for video games (and her curvy high pixel-count) to land her on TechTv. She has been busy covering video games, shooting photo spreads and fueling nerd-blog fantasies ever since.

It sounds great, working with video games all the time. Do you ever get sick of it?
I pretty much have the best job in the world. At this point I don’t play any “bad” video games, so whenever I play it’s enjoyable. And I still play them at home, because I have a bigger TV at my house than I do at work. It’s more fun to play video games sitting on your couch than it is at a cubicle. My job definitely keeps me couch-ridden. I’m not one of those people who feel inclined to go climb a mountain or run a marathon. My choice of career does have a relation to my general lackadaisical nature.
Lots of people are excited about the PS3 and the Wii. What’s your prediction for who’s going to come out on top?
Well, they’re aimed at different markets. The Wii is trying to be the perfect second system. It’s a lot cheaper. You’re going to be able to play all these old NES and Genesis games that everyone remembers and loves. The PS3 has been having problems with supply, so it won’t be able to sell as many as we expect the Wii to sell. People think Sony’s crazy for the price point for the PS3, but they managed to have a popular console in the last generation.

If Santa Claus could bring you any video games you wanted, what would they be?
Gears of War, Guitar Hero 2, with the wireless guitar controller. Resistance: Fall of Man, I want that. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. And then…hmm, I’ll pick God of War 2.
What genres of games do you prefer to play? RPGs? Adventure?
I’m not an RPG-girl. I’ve been playing Okami, and next on my list I want to try Final Fantasy XII. It’s gotten fantastic reviews, and everyone keeps raving about it. I’m excited about that one. But in general, anything turned-based, even turn-based RTS’, I pull out my hair. I can’t stand it. But I do like real-time strategy,
Does it bother you at all being in this industry headed up mostly by boys?
I just kind of roll with it. Sometimes it’s frustrating being the only woman in the room. But I think more often I get advantages. People remember me as the game journalist that was a woman. There are other female game journalists, and there are a lot of women who play games, so I think the perception is that it’s entirely male-dominated. But that’s not true. We’re out there.
