In order to truly appreciate the earth’s natural beauty, one must get in tune with nature, and we know just the spot that can help you accomplish this task: Bloodhound. Bringing the outdoors in, the décor of this SoMa neighborhood bar conjures up thoughts of the robust Canadian wilderness… of the majestic forests of Central California… of how our beloved nation must have looked like before cars, coffee shops and condos sprouted up and we formed cities.
Painting of bears and other such creatures can be found all throughout the space, while an antler chandelier peacefully hangs over a billiards table. Communal tables are made from redwood slabs, and the walls incorporate reclaimed wood from an old barn. Yet for Bloodhound’s best aspect, one must look to the skies — err, ceiling. The dark birds painted onto the ceiling add just the right touch of ruggedness that this city needs.
As if interior decorations alone were the only reason you’d stop into a bar, you might want to check out Bloodhound’s selection of beers and the signature cocktails. More than 20 local and Belgian draft and bottled brews are available, and the cocktails seem to also have a nature theme — you know, wild, unpredictable and so strong that they will take you down if not handled properly. And anytime you have a jukebox and the Big Buck Hunter arcade game into the mix, you’re bound to have your next after-work hang out spot. So gather ‘round the wood grain bar with a drink and a couple of pals to share campfire stories.
