The Scene: Your Weekend Ahead

E-mail Print PDF
Ready for the weekend? You will be after you read our essential guide to a fun-filled weekend in LA, spotlighting great places to drink, dance, bowl and relax. You'll thank us on Monday!

THURSDAY

Hee Haw Hell @ Bigfoot Lodge
3172 Los Feliz Blvd.
Los Feliz, CA 90039
(323) 662-9227
www.bigfootlodge.com

Bring in the weekend at this heavenly hipster Los Feliz bar where DJs Morgan and Jonathan spin the usual indie mix while Spencer Lee The Movie Guy shows incredibly strange 16mm and 8mm film oddities. Grab your favorite cocktail and cuddle up next to Smokey Bear and the faux fireplace to enjoy some cinematic and musical goodness.

Drink: $2 Pabst, $3 whiskey shots
Cover: Never!

Parc

6683 Hollywood Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90028
(323) 465-6200
www.parchollywood.com

Forget Winston’s! Parc is Hollywood’s newest see-and-be-seen bar du jour. Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz were spotted holding hands and making out there, while A-listers like Scarlett Johansson, Justin Timberlake and Paris Hilton have also hit up the new hot spot.

Cost: Expensive, but Chef J’s French-Asian menu is well worth it
Music: DJ starts spinning Top 40 stuff around 10:30 p.m.

FRIDAY

Rock n’ Bowl @ Pinz Sports Center
12655 Ventura Blvd.
Studio City, CA 91604
(818) 769-7600
www.pinzbowlingcenter.com

Laser-light shows, glowing pins and Top-40 tunes are apparently celebrity magnets. Brittany Murphy, Ashton and Demi and former lovebirds Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz don’t have to endure two-hour waiting lists to snag one of 32 lanes on this rockin’ night, but you probably will.

Cost: Call for Rock n’ Bowl rates (read: pricier than your average game)
Food: Grab a bite from Jerry's Deli restaurant next door or drinks upstairs while you’re waiting.

East/West Lounge
8851 Santa Monica Blvd
West Hollywood, CA 90069
(310) 360-6186
www.eastwestlounge.com

Easily the classiest bar in West Hollywood, East/West boasts an affluent, genuinely mixed crowd looking for a little sanctuary from the usual WeHo scene. Their extensive cocktail menu isn’t cheap but the drinks are worth the price tag and while you’re sipping your martini you can enjoy the DJ or relax on one of their plush leather loungers.

Drinks: Happy hour from 4.30pm – 7.30pm
Music: Chilled beats mixed with Top 40 hits

SATURDAY

Bang! @ The Ruby
7070 Hollywood Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90028
(323) 467-7070
www.clubbang.net

If you’re in the mood for dancing in a fun, unpretentous club, this is the place to be on a Saturday night. With 3 rooms of dancing, 3 full bars and a smoking patio, there’s plenty to keep you busy. The main room is indie and electro, the back room plays Top 40 and hip-hop and the front room is home to 80s new wave.

Crowd: 18+ hipsters and indie kids
Cover: $12 ($5 before 10pm with their email flyer)

Malibu Summer Saturdays @ Cabana Club
1439 Ivar Ave.
Hollywood, CA 90028
(323) 463-0005
www.cabanaclubhollywood.com

If you missed the Saturday Night Magazine and Rehab party at Cabana Club last weekend, we recommend you check out this awesome weekly party co-hosted by Platinum Events and Malibu player Ryan Silver. Take in the tropical sights of Cabana’s oasis patio while DJ Splyce spins his magic.

Crowd: H-Town scenesters galore. Tough door so email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get on the list.

1151 Oxford Rd.
San Marino, CA 91108
(626) 405-2100
www.huntington.org
Rich in culture, this museum/library houses a Gutenberg Bible, early editions of Shakespeare’s works and Thomas Gainsborough's famous "Blue Boy" painting. The big draw is 120 rolling acres of botanical landscape, including the breathtaking Desert, Japanese and Rose gardens.
