Seems like there’s hardly a moment when Culver City’s Rush Street isn’t bustling with an energetic and highly attractive crowd. If it’s not the line of denim-wearing yuppies anxiously waiting for the bouncer to check their IDs, it’s the sidewalk patio packed with couples slinked over every table and seat available. Perhaps it has a little something to do with “Upstairs at Rush Street,” the second-story lounge with hip couches and tables and a balcony overlooking the main level. Rotating DJs set the mood right all night long while a ceiling-to-floor pole in the adjacent room keeps the entertainment rolling, as plenty of amateurs and a handful of pros test their skills on it — usually after a couple of Pomegranate Metropolitans. Head towards the back for a pleasant surprise of a secluded outdoor patio, where you’ll most likely find more couples swapping love stories. Rush takes the trendy elements of Hollywood lounges and adds a dose of relaxed vibes that only Culver City can offer, to create a one-of-a-kind haven worth visiting again and again.
