There are no books. No matronly librarians and not even a “Shhh! Keep Quiet” sign looming in the background. So why name it Library Bar? We’re not exactly sure, but maybe it has something to do with the bar’s abundance of oversized, leather chairs that you’d most likely find in… well, a library. But as you probably already know, you won’t find funky black-and-white striped bar stools, candles and throw rugs at your local public library. However, expect to find them here.
Not to be confused with the downtown Library Bar, this dark lair is nonchalantly tucked away in the corner of the Roosevelt Hotel. As at any hotel bar, expect to find a medley of colorful characters, ranging from your lone rangers downing scotch on the rocks to your trendy out-of-towners loading up, content with chilling in La-La Land.
The bartenders — cute yet somewhat standoffish — efficiently deliver drinks that are overflowing with generous portions of alcohol. Library Bar has your wines covered – the reds, the whites, the champagnes; but the real celebrities here are bartender Matty B’s signature drinks, prepared with fruits and other goodies found at the local farmer’s market. Highly recommended is the deadly yet delectable Passion Fruit Mandarin Cosmo, made with fresh mandarin, cranberry juice, passion fruit concentrate and of course, alcohol — Hangar One Mandarin and Cointreau.
Expensive appetizers nicely compliment the White Peach Basil Mojito, or any cocktail for that matter. The average price for the flatbreads is $17; the average price for the sliders (Philly cheese steak, BBQ pulled pork, lobster and sirloin), $15.
