It’s a typical indie-boy band fairytale. Once upon a time, some thirteen-year-old boys from Pennsylvania were goofing around on guitars in their parent’s houses in a desperate attempt to master cover songs of their favorite bands and musicians. It wasn’t until they met their current guitarist, Joe, their junior year of high school that Brian, Colin, Cody and Rick made the decision to immerse themselves completely in their music, officially forming their alternarock group, Sound the Alarm. With strong vocals, killer guitar riffs, and some uber-hip haircuts, this don’t-call-us-emo band is most definitely on their way to rockin’ out happily ever after…
Was the catchy yet obviously tormented, “Suffocating” written it in response to something one of you directly experienced?
“Well, we all take part in the writing. But we actually wrote that song a while ago when we were about sixteen. At the time we were unsure about the band’s future—whether or not it was gonna be our career, etc. I think kind of explains the feelings we were all going through. All this stuff was smothering us in a way, but on the other hand, it was really flattering. We felt like we were becoming an actual band.”
Does i-Tunes has anything to do with the dying out of cool cover art?
“Yeah. It’s a bummer. Personally, I would so much rather have the actual CD with the booklet and coverart rather than a burned copy, you know?
